The largest scope of the game is the adventure. The goal is to be able to start several adventures and build upon your character, or create new characters. An adventure is an overarching story that sets the scene for your gameplay and your end goal.
Scenario
In order to achieve the adventure goal, the game takes you through several scenarios, both ready-made and randomly generated scenarios that fit the story arc.
Rounds
Each scenario is divided into rounds, there are key events that take place in the beginning and end of each round, and a round ends when all active figures have acted.
At the start of each round
At the start of round 5 and 10 and above, a scenario effect card is drawn
Each Hero decided what, if any, actions they plan to take this round and allocate the required amount of Stamina from their stamina pool
Each Enemy type active has their action card revealed
At the end of each round
All Heroes cooldown queues are advanced one step down
All Stamina spent is returned to the Hero Stamina pool, unless tied to an active card
All Realm Rifts in unoccupied map tiles are removed
Turn
A turn is the actions a single figure, either a Hero, Enemy, Ally or other take in the round. Each figure is assigned a starting order, or "speed", when they are selecting their actions, which determines in what order each figure acts. Each Hero figure have a fixed amount of stamina, this can be spent on their available actions that are described on the cards on their hand. Each card has a value that both sets the speed for your character and how much stamina it costs to use it. The more stamina you spend, the quicker you get and the faster you act in the round. Enemies have their speed designated on their cards as well, which is selected from a shuffled deck per enemy type.
At the start of each turn
If the figure has the Poison status, the figure suffers 1 damage
At the end of each turn
Remove temporary status the figure has, like Paralyze, Disarm, Adrenaline and Confused
Action
An action is something performed by a figure. Actions are described on Action Cards selected by the figure. An Action Card can contain several actions separated by a line, each action is performed separately. Some actions may depend on an earlier action, or be required if another action was taken.
