Enemies in Dark Realms have a set of rules on how they move, target and attack in order for the players to carry out their actions for them.
Targeting
When an Enemy performs an action, it needs a target. Some Action Cards specify circumstances that supersedes the following basic rules (like target the Hero with lowest HP, etc). To determine how the Enemy choses the target, the priority is as follows:
Character with Mark
Summons
Closest Hero
Fastest Hero
If this results in two targets being equal, use a to decide which Character it chooses.
Multi-targeting
Some attacks target multiple Characters, and the same rules apply, the first target may be a Character with a Mark and the next target may be the closest Character
Movement
When an Enemy Action Card has a movement action, the Enemy always moves towards the Heroes on the map, unless otherwise specified, and the target for movement is selected according to the above list. Note however that the Enemy does not move closer than needed to perform an attack, if any, on its Action Card. If the Action card has 3 and 3 the Enemy will not move closer than 3 spaces away as needed for the Attack.
Traps
When an Enemy wants to move closer to a Character, a trap may be in the way. The Enemy will always try to walk around the trap, but if that is impossible, will go through it.
