Creating your Hero

Welcome to Dark Realms! It is time to create your Hero for the game. The process is fairly simple, you select a race and a class and this determines your starting statistics and starting actions.
In Dark Realms there are 8 classes and 8 races, and a Hero can be any combination, which enables a wide variety of Hero characteristics. Note that if you play with friends, there is only one available from each, so two players can not play the same race nor class.
When you have chosen your race and class, you attach their tokens to your character dashboard, pictured above is the dashboard for an Elf race with the class Mage. The dashboard is divided into three functions - first to clearly show what race and class you are, then your four game-relevant statistics: Stamina, Health, and . You attach the starting values for your combination, which is the sum of the stats of each race and class. So if your selected race has the stat "2" for and your class has "1", then your starting value is 3.

Capped strength

The first level of your character is capped to a maximum of 5 for and so if your race has 4 in and your class has 3, then your starting is 5. Stamina and Health are not capped in this fashion and is the sum of both values.

Cooldown, active and discard slots

Around the rim of your dashboard are numbers and symbols related to your cards. When a card is used it is placed into one of these slots. To the left are the cards, these are cards you have played that have conditions on when they are active, either until the end of the round, the next round or indefinitely. They remain there until that condition is met.
Some cards have the symbol on them, which means that when they are used, they are discarded and placed to the right on your dashboard. There are items and cards that let you retrieve cards from this slot, but otherwise they can not be used again in the current scenario.
The numbered slots is your cooldown queue, when a card is played (and not active nor discarded) it's Stamina value decides what slot it is placed in. This queue is advanced for every round and the cards that were in the number 1 slot in the last round re-enters your hand in the current round.
